The 5th Annual Hospital Bed Races, presented by Raymond James, Raises $75,000 for the Local Health Initiatives.
Fort McMurray, Alberta – Held in front of an enthusiastic crowd on Saturday, September 24th, the Northern Lights Health Foundation’s 5th Annual Hospital Bed Races reached new heights in both participants and money raised. The competing teams came to the starting line in innovative and colourful costumes, adding to the excitement and spectacle of the day. “Once again, the community really came together to make this event a great success,” said Greg Fuhr, Chair of the Northern Lights Health Foundation Board.
“The support and commitment we received from our sponsors, volunteers, all the race participants, and everyone who pledged their support, was truly humbling.” “We are proud to support this event every year,” says Nadine Allen of Raymond James, the presenting sponsor of the event.
“Raymond James is in the wealth business, NLHF is in the health business, and without health, wealth doesn’t matter.”
“We’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the volunteers who helped with the event set-up and tear down and those who kept the races on track and the teams fed and supported,” said Cindy Amerongen, Executive Director.
“While it may seem like only one day at the races, the impact of everyone’s efforts will affect people’s lives, every single day.” “The Hospital Bed Races is an event in which everyone wins,” says Lorna Ash, Director of Development at NLHF. “We are so inspired by the fundraising each team member does and how they bring others together to support the races. Everyone has a great time and health care in the community gets a serious boost; putting the latest technology and equipment in the hands of healthcare staff so they can provide the best care to their patients. That is definitely a win/win situation… and we look forward to doing it again next year.”
